Snow and Sand

Whether barefooted or booted, kids will grab their bright plastic baskets or paper bags this weekend to hunt for surprises in the snow and sand. At Mammoth Lakes (left photo) the entire weekend is a celebration beginning with Woolly’s Parade in Mammoth Village on Saturday. Kids are invited to revel in the fun and join in the parade around the Mammoth Village. Later in the day Ezakimak 11,053′ Pink Moon Challenge race from the base of Main Lodge to the top of Eleven53 on cross country skis, snowshoes or by foot is a 2,000′ climb from 9,000′ to 11,053′ in a winter trial featuring both competitive and novice classes. After the race stick around for Mammoth’s Pink Moon Party. Then on Sunday the festivities include Breakfast with Woolly, an Egg Hunt in the snow, and Parade around the Village. Egg Hunts in the sand are happening this weekend in Capitola by the Sea in Santa Cruz County and Belmont Park (belmontpark.com) in San Diego.
