There are more than 30 Super Bowl Weekend Runs in California such as the popular Redondo Beach Baby Buggy 10K (pictured) with a costume contest. Many events have run categories for kids, so bring the family!

In my home town, Huntington Beach, there’s an annual Super Bowl Sunday Marathon which closes the street by my house as it becomes part of the race course.

With some 20,000 runners filling the streets, families get out of their homes to cheer participants from all over the world. Kids even bring out their musical instruments and perform to cheer on their moms and dads who are running. The major coastal route, Highway 1, shuts down for more than half a day, posing an inconvenience for travelers re-routed to their destinations. It’s all part of the Super Bowl family fun and fever that takes over the nation — and California is right on board!
