Pictured are scenes from tattoo festivals in California. This weekend (today, March 1, 2015) you can still catch several big tattoo shows in Santa Rosa and Fresno. Izzy’s Tattoos & Blues Expo is a popular, annual event held at Flamingo Resort & Spa. Fresno’s Central Valley Tattoo Expo is also this weekend.

Tattoo festivals are lifestyle events featuring music, pin-up contests, car shows and some of the best known tattoo artists in the nation. People line up to get a tattoo done by legendary artist, Roman Abrego, of H2OCEAN (top, left photo.)  They get tattoos of a father who passed away, a favorite poodle, a snake, skull and crossbones, flowers, sexy women, famous rockstars who passed, Janis Joplin and Jimi Hendrix, hot rod cars, and lots of fantasy stuff with dragons, five eyes looking at you, etc. The shows are quite entertaining and even educational with discussions about safety, techniques and tips. The music is mostly rock, heavy metal and anything loud & wild.  Upcoming festivals take place in San Francisco, Costa Mesa, Lancaster, San Diego, Long Beach, Monterey and Pomona. If you’ve been waiting to get a tattoo with one of the best artists, you’ll be waiting a lot longer as these events have huge lines.
