26 Thanksgiving Turkey Trots in California: Find Yours

Published on: November 13, 2012

Do the ‘Gobble Wobble’ or best turkey call in  Santa Monica this Fall! If you’re feeling like a turkey and you want to do the turkey trot, take note: wild turkeys are fast, graceful runners–they just don’t fly so well.

Get in the turkey craze (growing by leaps and bounds) as you carve a path to the nearest turkey race this week or next in celebration of Thanksgiving. Annual turkey trots  are 5 and 10K running events inviting the public to  for a no-stress competitive contest on or around Thanksgiving Day.  Some are just for fun, while others such as Father Joe’s Villages Thanksgiving Day Run in San Diego are fundraisers for food banks and homeless shelters . Participants at turkey trots range from kids to seniors, often  dressed in silly turkey costumes & hats ! When held on Thanksgiving Day as most turkey trots are, the events try to finish before Noon so you can head home and eat turkey!  See the list: Turkey Trots 2012
