SOLVANG USA — What do you do when the Tree Lighting is over? On the Central California Coast you host a Christmas Tree Burn. Residents of Solvang and Santa Ynez dismantle their holiday trees and pitch them on a pile to be ignited by Santa Barbara County Fire Department on one special night, Fri. Jan. 10, 2014 at around 6 p.m.  Seen as an educational opportunity for the FD to demonstrate to the public just how dry  trees can be and how quickly they can ignite, the burn takes place in the fields of Old Mission Santa Ines, 1760 Mission Drive. It is one of the largest fire safety demonstrations and community gatherings on the coast.

Area residents are invited to bring their tree (stands & ornaments must be removed) to the burn pile; and then join together to see this powerful spectacle ignite the New Year.  Solvang Parks & Recreation Department is in charge of the event, inviting locals to bring their holiday trees to the burn pile between January 6-10, 2014. Last year refreshments were sold by local organizations and  free, live music entertained the crowd. Can you hear the music?  “JUST CAN’T STOP, JUST CAN’T STOP, WHEN MY SPARK GETS HOT” by Bee Gees, DISCO INFERNO
