Do you remember when it was a big deal finding Internet service at a hotel? How about trying to get a quality blend of espresso for breakfast? And what about finding lodgings that would accept your pet? Those memories are so turn-of-the-21st-century! Today people are trying to maintain special diets on the road but have to leave their juicers at home, knowing that their energy levels and well-being may suffer. Juicing, an emerging trend, hasn’t gained full steam just yet. It’s getting there with the announcement that Kimpton Hotels is now officially squeezing its own juices with Cold Press Juicers or Centrifugal Juice Extractors to keep its guests healthy and productive. The San Francisco-based boutique hotel chain is pushing the envelope with 10 of its hotels nationwide. Only time will tell if the popularity grows so that all 60 Kimpton  hotels (and competitors) begin juicing.

3 Options: 16-ounce juices sell for $8-12:
Being Green – A nutrient-rich mixture of cucumber, celery, spinach, kale and lemon.
Beets Me – Features an energizing elixir of red beets, carrots, ginger and cilantro.
Local Only – A cocktail of local farm produce such as whole passion fruit, green apples, celery and kale. Varies by location due to locally sourced ingredients of chef’s choice.

In California, look for the juices at these restaurants & hotel properties:

Blvd 16 (Hotel Palmor in Westwood, Los Angeles)
Cusp (Hotel La Jolla)
Finch & Fork (Canary Hotel – Santa Barbara)
Jsix (Hotel Solamar – San Diego)
Pescatore (Best Western Plus Tuscan Inn – San Francisco)
