Ugliest Dog Contest
Don’t jump the gun and think that the World’s Ugliest Dog Contest pokes fun at the poor misfits who haven’t a chance at winning a beauty contest. The judges who make their decision today, June 2o, at the Sonoma-Marin Fair in Petaluma, are tasked with picking out what they consider to be the ugliest dog. Remember, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and the contest offers a testament that all dogs do not have to meet AKC pedigree standards to be man’s (or woman’s) best friend. For 25 years, the contest has included dogs with missing fur, crossed eyes, duck waddles or mismatched ears. And as odd as it seems, the crowds go wild and cheer for these proud little pets and their beaming owners. Here are past year’s contestants and a youtube video of the event.
