Day of the Giraffe

June 21, 2014 is World Giraffe Day. Pictured (left) are giraffes at Safari West in Santa Rosa and (right) a family of giraffes at the Living Desert near Palm Springs, where we’re “sticking our neck out for giraffe conservation.” You’ll find giraffes in the majority of California zoos, and there’s a program, Jeans for Giraffes, inviting you to drop off old pairs of jeans at participating zoos to raise money for giraffes facing extinction in Africa. Visit jeansforgiraffes.org to find locations where you can drop off old jeans.
