A requirement for getting into the Ventura St. Patrick’s Parade spirit on March 14, 2015  is wearing a green wig or hat. But you may not get to see the popular Sham Hock, a giant inflatable green pig that has appeared at the past 25 St. Patrick’s Day Parades in Ventura. There’s a whopping $100 reward for the safe return of Sham Hock according to parade organizers. If you see this green creature it’s 20 feet long, 12 feet high and pretty plump when inflated with a pump. Parade volunteers went to retrieve the pig from a storage facility where it sat near the entrance for pick up and when they got there, piggy was gone. Sham Hock has been stolen before and returned just before the big St. Patty’s Parade.  Organizers want Sham Hock back and are hoping that whoever stole it will return it before the parade.  As we’ve mentioned previously, there are St. Patrick’s parades this weekend to enjoy in other cities, as well: DublinSacramento, San Francisco and San Diego. Ventura’s event begins on Main Street in front of the San Buenaventura Mission at 10 a.m.
