Vintage Fashion Show and Tea Brings History to Life on Sunday, April 13, 2013!

Los Angeles–Throughout history, fashion has effected our outlook on life, and influenced views of social status, and thus potential. How History Effects Fashion and How Fashion Influences History is title and theme of the 2013 annual event at Heritage Square, a unique complex of historic, restored buildings in L.A.  Did you know that in 15th century Germany, laws forbade the lower and middle class from wearing excessively gaudy raiment? Around Venice, people were restricted from weaving anything but black velvet, so as to make a distinction between town and country. You’ll learn fascinating details  with the museum’s historic Longfellow-Hastings Octagon House as the backdrop for the show. Models promenade in vintage or period accurate reproductions of clothing based on historical patterns. After the show, visitors are invited to sample items commonly enjoyed at an afternoon tea, view a vintage clothing display inside the Perry Mansion, shop in the Museum Store and explore historic buildings and surroundings.  As the Vintage Fashion Show and Tea often sells out, reservations are required.   Admission is $30 by reservation only, call (323) 225-2700 ext. 223, heritagesquare.org
