Though there may not be much snow this winter (we’ll see as the season unfolds) there’s plenty of ICE now through the New Year 2015. Parents should prepare as their kids are innocently introduced to ice skating at the seasonal holiday rinks in California. Who knows how many kids will fall in love with the feeling of skating and urge mom & dad to spend hundreds of thousands of dollars on lessons and a chance to become the next Gold Medal Olympian? Ice rinks are practically everywhere but for the real feel of skating there’s definitely a difference between the artificial surfaces and ice. Ice takes longer to set up, costs a lot more to produce & maintain in warmer climates, but many who have tried the less expensive, artificial surfaces have said they are not satisfactory when you’re accustomed to the real stuff. If you’re looking to ice skate, a few cities where you may get lucky include: Monterey, Long Beach, Santa Monica, Pasadena, South Lake Tahoe, San Diego, Mammoth Lakes, Paradise, Walnut Creek, Brentwood, Riverside, Redding, San Francisco, Los Angeles, San Jose, Rancho Cordova, Folsom, Twain Harte, Vacaville … more, more, more!
