Why Yreka California? Gold Rush Days and Friendly Folks

If you’ve never heard of Yreka, California, much less considered visiting, that’s OK. One of the friendliest places among top 100 Best Small Towns doesn’t get all excited if it’s not on your radar. Locals don’t require validation– they have three sets of mountains to gaze at on a daily basis!  Located 22 miles south of the California-Oregon border next to Interstate 5, the gold rush era town  features over 70 well-preserved pre-1900 houses listed on the National Registry of Historic Places.

This weekend Yreka is hosting its annual Gold Rush Day on June 16, 2012.  It’s a perfect opportunity to get to know your California neighbors!

  • Location: Gold Rush Days takes place on Saturday, June 16, 2012 along Miner St., Broadway, Lane and 4th St.  in Yereka, CA.
