Bolsa Chica State Beach includes several miles of oceanfront beaches directly across Pacific Coast Highway (Hwy 1) from Bolsa Chica wetlands, also known as the Bolsa Chica Ecological Reserve. Because of its proximity to the flyway for international birds that can travel up to 10,000 miles, you'll especially enjoy sitting on the beach and watching beautiful terns, egrets and graceful ocean birds fly over heard.

The beach is where the real fun begins. It includes firerings for having a beach bonfire, first come, first serve & bring your own wood. There are volleyball nets for games of sand volleyball. There's a paved bike path for skating, bicycling, rollerblading, walking and jogging. This path is connected to 8. 3 miles of city and state beaches in Huntington Beach and, although that path ends at Sunset Beach to the north, the mile-long Sunset Beach is technically part of incorporated Huntington Beach. Joggers and bicyclists lose their dedicated beach path but can continue riding on the paved streets of Sunset Beach.

There's lots of parking (fee charged) and seasonally there are concessions with surf rentals, lessons and snacks sold.

Always available is a patio with bbq grills and shaded picnic tables, and there are plenty of restrooms and rinse-off outdoor showers.

If you get hungry when the concession isn't open, try heading to the end of the beach for Jack n the Box or across the street for fantastic Mexican food at Super Mex.

While it is always free to enter the beach, there is a charge for parking your car in the lot. The fee varies seasonally and generally ranges between $10-15 flat fee.
