January 3: Third block of Main Street reopens; City Historian celebrates the New Year, looking back 75 years ago.

January 10: City Council to focus on  2021 Community Engagement, Homelessness, Economic Development and Housing, infrastructure (including Parks) and COVID-19. Russ Paxson is remembered; and Huntington Beach City Historian Jerry Person says police stories of the past could be today's news.

January 17: Patrick Brenden invites the public to visit Bolsa Chica Wetlands. Huntington Beach City Historian Jerry Person remembers the city's watering holes of the past. Taverns, bars, beer parlors, cafes, cocktail lounges such as Gary Mulligan's Main Street Saloon, Top Hat Lounge, Gospel Swamp and The Golden Bear Cafe were among them.

January 24: Residential trash rates are increasing; column reflects on remembering when there were Big City Racketeers in Huntington Beach.
