The 16th Annual Surfin' Sunday Concerts Rock HB

More than 100 foot-tapping, song singing, joyful people attended the First Surfin' Sunday Concert recently at The International Surfing Museum, 411 Olive Avenue, just north of Main in Downtown Huntington Beach. This year is the 16th Annual Concert Series and the 25th Anniversary of the legendary museum. Featured in the first concert were The Hindu Pirates of Huntington Beach and The Swank Bastards from Las Vegas. Thanks to HBISM Director/Secretary Linda Miller for booking 43 great bands. We don't know how she does it, year after year. Mild-mannered Linda, with assistance from her soft-shoeing hubby John, consistently gets the best bands around to rock the museum parking lot or Pier Plaza Stage. She watches her selections perform right next to a blaring speaker. For 8 years she has rallied the groovy groups that play with enthusiasm, show and even some dance. You owe it to yourself to bring friends and take advantage of the best deal in town--FREE CONCERTS, which cost people a bundle in other venues around the globe. But bands from around the world herald Linda's call and a chance for immortality by appearing at the International Surfing Museum, founded by the amazing non-surfer Natalie Kotsch, a Canadian who thought HB should have a surfing museum. Good thing since we're now called "Surf City." Surf Musician Icons like Dick Dale and Dean Torrance of Jan and Dean have performed at the concerts. Thanks Natalie, Linda and hardworking museum directors like Paul Taylor, Cindy Cross, Brett Barnes, Lee Love, Jeff and all the others, for providing us with memories we'll never forget!
