Newport Beach Santa Ana River Jetty

Newport Beach Beaches: Newport Beach, California has an extensive collection of beaches throughout its peninsula and several islands that make up the city. One of our favorite haunts are the peninsula beaches near Santa Ana River jetty.

Just on the border of the city, the river mouth that feeds into the Pacific Ocean separates Newport Beach city beaches from Huntington State Beach in Huntington Beach.

At the state beach to the north of the river are fire rings and amenities such as beach concessions, plus ample parking. ON the Newport Beach peninsula just across the river outlet are no fire rings, residential homes and beach home rentals on the sand, and dog-friendly beaches that are open to leashed pets during certain hours. You'll often find people with their dogs around the river outlet presumably believing that they are just beyond the rules and regulations of Newport or Huntington in a small swath of beach area that some say is Orange County property. Surfers like to park in this area and head out to the ocean to catch some great waves.
