Seal Beach, a Sandy Beach with Charm

If you're looking of an old-fashioned beach filled with charm in the heart of one of the busiest and most modern cities on Earth, head straight for Ocean Ave. where Main Street meets the Seal Beach Pier in Orange County.

Seal Beach is less hustle than surround beaches such as Huntington Beach and Long Beach. It sits along the bend in the bay and is caught between to channels that define it. One feeds out of Huntington Harbour and the other forms the border of Long Beach at San Gabriel River.

That river creates both good and bad for Seal Beach. The good attributes are warm water currents popular with surfers. The bad are stingrays, and pollution after it rains. In a heavy storm you can see grocery carts and all kinds of junk end up at Seal Beach channel. Fortunate for Seal Beach it doesn't rain often, mostly winters, and many loving volunteers make it their business to clean up.
