Sunset Beach Beaches:

One of the most exciting times at Sunset Beach is -- guess when? Sunset! Shown in the picture is a California gull at sunset on the shoreline in this very "Orange" County beach town. Though the county was , in reality, named for oranges and orange groves, the color orange is a favorite beach color that usually comes around once a day.

Sunset Beach gulls are busy at sunset feeding on the small bits of food that dwell within the ocean, deposited on the sand during waves, then washed back into the water once again if not eaten by gulls.

Many of the gulls frequenting Sunset Beach were hatched as chicks on the offshore Channel Island, Anacapa Island.

The gull is one frequent and most prominent birds seen in Sunset Beach. The Bolsa Chica wetlands sit on the perimeter of the town, which means you may see a variety of birds hanging around or just dropping by on their migrations.
