Location/Directions The beach is 15 miles south of Oxnard on Highway One. 9000 W. Pacific Coast Highway, Malibu, CA 90265

Point Mugu State Park includes Sycamore Beach surrounded by Sycamore Canyon, part of the Santa Monica Mountains. Five miles of sand beaches, rocky bluffs, dunes, rugged hills and two major river canyons are contained in the more than 70 miles of hiking trails. The beach also features swimming, body surfing and surf fishing.

The park includes the jagged pinnacles of the Boney Mountains State Wilderness Area. Sycamore Canyon guided nature hikes immerse visitors into the vast wilderness of Point Mugu State Park. Learn about nature from this incredible adventure of hiking one of the largest parks in the Santa Monica Mountains. Sycamore Cove Beach in Ventura County sits to the back drop of mountains that separate the cities of Ventura such as Camarillo from the ocean to the west. Five miles of ocean and beautiful beaches in this southern portion of Ventura County near the Los Angeles County line often contain bleached driftwood after a storm. Sycamore Canyon Beach provides an entry point to sycamore Canyon's approx. 50 campsites. Located in the Santa Monica Mountains a short distance from Los Angeles metropolitan area, visitors can stroll through the fall colors of the sycamore trees and over-wintering Monarch butterflies that take up residence from November through February.

From Oxnard on Highway 101, take the Pacific Coast Highway south through Oxnard for 15 minutes to Point Mugu State Park. Make a left into Sycamore Canyon. From the day use parking lot, walk straight back in the campground to the fire gate. Continue back as far as you like into the canyon and return the way you came. Point Mugu State Park is a Watchable Wildlife site.

There are more than 70 miles of hiking and biking trails. The beach also features swimming and surf fishing. Boney Mountains State Wilderness Area is part of this urban refuge.
