Holtville, CA Travel, Photos Information and News

Holtville or "the Carrot Capital of the World" is located in the semi-desert of Southern California not far from the Mexico border in Imperial County. Just 10 miles from El Centro, the city is known for its agriculture and trucking industries.

The city was built around a town square (very old-fashioned) and was based on the design of the city's founder who came from Missouri. His last name was Holt.

Each year Holtville celebrates its "roots" with the Carrot Festival that includes a parade and carnival. The highlight of the year, the beautiful spring weather makes for an ideal time to visit. Hotels are located in nearby El Centro.

When you visit be sure to stop by the town square and the heart of the community, Holt Park. Shady trees offer shelter from the sun and provide a perfect spot for picnics.

Holtville is a wintering spot not just for migrations of birds but also for the "snowbirds", those human beings escaping the winter ice and snow of other places. They come in the winter and leave in the summer, creating a great winter tourist trade for the community.
