California Welcome Centers (CWCs) promote their immediate regions as well as the entire state of California. Each CWC is independently owned and operated, and pays a yearly fee to the state for the designation as an official California Welcome Center. In return, CTTC provides marketing assistance and oversight for the centers.
All CWCs perform a concierge service for travelers while in California. Most offer clean public restrooms, plus destination, attraction, and accommodations brochures from participating destinations statewide.
CWCs also provide reservation services, Internet access, regional and California merchandise, attraction ticket sales and plasma screen advertising.
In nearly all of the state's regions,
there are CWCs providing travelers with
information, resources and collateral
materials. CWC staff serve as personal
concierges for all aspects of California
travel. CWC objectives include acting as
a source for statewide visitor
information, encouraging an extended
length of stay in California and
ensuring there are CWCs to provide
service to travelers across the state.
New Centers. The California Division of
Tourism designated two new centers: one
in Buena Park and one in Salinas. The
Buena Park CWC is located at the
historic Stage Stop Hotel, 6601 Beach
Boulevard. The Buena Park CWC fulfills
the need for concierge service in Orange
County.
The Salinas CWC is located at 1213 North Davis Road. The Salinas CWC supports travelers on Interstate 101 in the upper Central Coast region of the state.
