REDONDO BEACH, CA: The annual Redondo Pier car show in September used to coincide with the Lobster Festival produced by the Chamber of Commerce. That event has permanently ended as a Chamber production but the car show on the pier & wharf continues on as a stand alone event.

The setting is cool, aquamarine blue as the staged cars sit on the pier above the Pacific Ocean. The vehicles range from woodies and customs to an antique fire engine. The show participants bring in a wide range of cars in pristine condition with glossy paint jobs, pin-striping and other details.

The location includes dozens of great seafood, Mexican and American food restaurants so you can make a day of it visiting the free, fun event.

While it's fantastic to get to walk amongst the classic cars and take pictures, I found myself worrying that being so close I could slip up and accidentally touch a car or scratch it with my camera gear due to the volume of visitors weaving in and out of the displays. Just be on your guard and watch your kids so you don't get dinged for dinging someone's expensive collectible.

All in all, it's a great car show with a wide assortment of vehicles to see and admire. And best of all, it's free!
