California casinos are permitted under specific gaming regulations and are open to the public age 21 and older. There are casinos in 27 counties, nearly half of California's 58 counties. Full service resort casinos typically are found near or on Indian reservations (Rancherias). Legislation that changed ownership rights to Native Americans, returning land and recognizing some tribes, opened opportunities for smaller tribes to form casinos and resorts. There are potentially some new casinos coming California's way!

While the impact of casino gambling hasn't devastated Las Vegas gambling as Californians continue to be the number one tourists supporting Nevada's gaming enterprise, the quantity and quality of California casinos is taking a big bite out of the revenue generation for Sin City (Las Vegas).
