Dozens of actors with period costumes, livestock & animals, and strategic lighting  in the outdoor parking lot dusted in a layer of sand, are artfully planned each year for the Santa Clara First Baptist Church's "Bethlehem".

The reenactment of the Biblical birth of Jesus is performed every half hour but the church recommends sticking around for an hour or more so you can catch the side shows related to the story.

The outdoor drama performed by local actors is an annual attraction easily accessible across the street from Santa Clara High School. Completely free as a gift to the community, the church says it costs $25,000 or more to produce this beloved event on an annual basis. Pets are not allowed, and good walking shoes are recommended. Event is held when it rains.
