Tree Lighting Celebration the day after Thanksgiving, Santa Rosa's annual event to ring in the holiday season will take place on Courthouse Square with family friendly activities, live entertainment, delicious holiday drinks and treats, photos with Santa, and of course the official lighting of the Courthouse Square tree with a skating show by Redwood Ice Theatre Company and everyone's favorite beagle, Snoopy!

After all the candles are lit, the countdown begins to illuminate the grand tree with thousands of color-changing LED lights. Winter Lights is a free community event presented by the Santa Rosa Chamber of Commerce and the downtown merchants.

Winter Lights, downtown annual tree lighting event, brings the community together to celebrate the holidays with activities for all ages. This is a free event for the whole community. This year, we're aiming to put new lights on the tree to light up the holidays! The evening starts with the arrival of Santa Claus on top of a fire truck. Whether you've been naughty or nice, everyone's invited to have their picture taken with Santa in the City of Santa Rosa's Out There Welcome Wagon. There will be delicious food and beverages from local hot spots and food trucks, including beer and wine for the grown-ups and free hot chocolate and cookies for the kiddos. Ornament painting, a bouncy jump house, face painting, live performances … there's a lot see and do before the main event. The festivities are particularly special to those who participate in the Remembrance Candle Lighting and Tree Lighting portion of the night.

Over 30 years ago, Sutter Care at Home began the person-to-person candle lighting tradition in honor of loved ones who are no longer with us. After all the candles are lit, the countdown begins to illuminate the grand tree with thousands of color-changing LED lights. This beloved celebration is traditionally held on the Friday after Thanksgiving in Courthouse Square, and is free and open to the public.

Other fun activities and events include the Santa Rosa Egg Hunt held each spring, free summer concerts series and the annual Halloween Trick or Treating.

Holiday Open House & Tree Lighting 12-7 p.m. at Downtown Santa Rosa launches the holidays at The Downtown Holiday Open House 12-5 p m. Festivities include specials, free gift wrapping, goodies to eat, validated garage parking, music and Downtown Gift Basket raffle!

The Sutter VNA & Hospice Lights of Life Tree Lighting Program begins at 6pm with more kids crafts, free pictures with Santa, live holiday music and the candle lighting and tree lighting ceremony. Old Courthouse Square is the place to be--bring a hat and gloves to keep warm, and your holiday cheer, please!
