-- Avalon's restaurants don't generally rank among favorites for the
visiting L.A. crowd. But there are plenty of options and though some may think
the food is over-priced, others accept that it is merely Catalina Island.
Lobster Trap seems to hold strong on fish--clam chowder, cerviche, halibut
with lemon capers, mahi and calamari are favorites. The Lobster, however, is
expensive and doesn't generally get high marks from reviewers.
The restaurant is casual and has a local crowd. Live entertainment such as
bands perform at night. And there's always a $3 taco on the menu, which
brings in a lot of cruise ship travelers.
