Costa Mesa, California -- Costa Mesa is one of the best Southern California cities to buy affordable comfort foods you can eat out and enjoy. Driving down Harbor Boulevard one day, we totally lucked into trying a new place for us, Taco, Jr. It has been around for decades but not a place we'd ever tried.

The tacos are quite affordable, costing a couple bucks each. Be sure to try the chicken taco when you go. While one person in our group liked the big, beefy burrito, the chicken taco offers some of the softest, quality white chicken pieces that make one satisfying and two even better for the hungry diner.

The restaurant features a walk-up window and a few small tables under an awning or out in the sun overlooking busy Harbor Blvd. Many simply come and pick up their food for take-home but since we live some distance, we like to eat it while the meat is hot, the sauce is steamy, and the lettuce and tomato toppings are cold and crunchy.

When you yearn for an affordable meal that will fill you up and taste like home cooking, head for Taco, Jr., approx. 10 minutes away from the 405 Freeway exit at Harbor Blvd. (heading toward the beach).
