Has California Gone to the Dogs?

Mention California and people think of  beaches, pretty girls in bikinis (PPamela Anderson - Bay Watch style) and surfers hanging ten as they ride the gnarly West Coast waves next to migrating whales and an occasional shark. It's just the kind of place you'd expect to see surfing and skateboarding - doggy style.

Tyson the Skateboarding Dog grew up near the beaches of Southern California. He's getting old now and is slowing down (we gestimate his age at not quite 11 human years), but the skateboard pro has seen every trick in the book and then a few. He's been on Oprah, major network news, Martha Stewart and in movies such as Lords of Dogtown and Undiscovered. Tyson has also appeared internationally in productions in Japan and other countries. He even skated on a float in the 2009 Rose Parade. An up and comer named Tilman skateboarded with Tyson on the float... in one of those unforgettable California classic moments.

Skateboard Dog, Tyson, is an incredible Bulldog that delights all who see him scooting and gliding along sidewalks near the beach. He's been on television and in movies, but he's best known and loved by those who see him skating most every day at Southern California beaches. Your best chance of seeing him live is in downtown Huntington Beach along Main Street or other Southern California beach locations where sidewalks offer a smooth ride and big audiences.

Tyson was born on October 4, 2001 in Los Alamitos, California. From the beginning, Tyson was distinctive among his peers, being the largest of 8 puppies. First raised by a snowboarder, Tyson was relocated to the beach and went crazy every time he saw skateboarders on an a cement bike and skate path at the beach. Barking and pulling with all his strength, his owner thought that he hated skateboards. Amazingly, Tyson only wanted to get on the board and ride. He began riding at one year and became quite skilled. Tyson wants to ride every day and is unhappy when he misses a day, his owners say. Hat's off to one of California's great citizens who embraces the lifestyle that makes our state so famous!
