Why is the fantasy business, Once Upon a Time
Character Company, such a success? Amy Jo
Waychoff tells why:
I started Once Upon A Time
Character Company (OUATCC) after years of my
family and friends urging me to help provide
them a higher quality of princess performers
than what was currently available.
I believe wholeheartedly that the Fairytales
my performers bring to life are full of
lessons about bravery, patience, self
confidence, gratitude, grace and forgiveness
which are important concepts each child must
learn as they grow. OUATCC parties are
unique because not only is our staff
compiled exclusively of past theme park
performers who have performed internally
around the globe on cruise ships and Disney
theme parks, but of Pageant title winners
and musical theater performers. With the
main focus of creating a magical experience
for all of our clients through personal
interaction, engaging story time, sing
alongs, we have grown our company in 2 years
from 2 performers to a cast of 24 full time
performers who can portray 26 characters! in
2015 we also look forward to launching of
our new OUATCC Arizona Branch!
We cast a number of different ways to
ensure we always hire the best performers.
We are always accepting applications to join
our cast. Katie, our OC & LA Kingdom Manager
and I sift through each application to best
determine how they would fit in with our
cast, only if we have an opening. Unlike
other companies we cast performers to play
specific characters, and only the characters
they are best suited for with height, age,
complexion, eye color, face shape and
personality all as factors. We look for
people who are genuinely nice and warm,
gracious, poised and graceful in movement,
energetic. There is a difference between a
girl in a costume and a true poised princess
at heart. We believe a princess would never
deny a hug or a laugh or a smile from any
child. I don't believe that is a thing you
can train someone to do, it's just who you
are. We don't hire princess performers we
hire performers who ARE princesses.
