Persian Center annual New Year Festival of Fire, called Chaharshanbeh Souri, (which means Eve of Wednesday) is held on the last Tuesday night in winter, just before the Vernal Equinox or first moment of spring. This is the time of year when Persians around the world will be celebrating Nowruz (New Year). As the sun sets, people jump over bonfires to say farewell to the coldness, paleness, and sickness of winter, and welcome the redness, warmth and energy of spring; they sing, “Zardi-ye man az toh, sorkhi-ye toh az man," which translates to, "May your rosy red glow be mine, and my sickly yellow pallor be yours." The event which is hosted by the Persian Center is a free, family-friendly, non-alcoholic event at one of a few secular Persian organizations in the United States.

100% student-initiated, organized and staffed on UC Berkeley campus at the Campanile Esplanade. The Eggster Hunt and Learning Festival is a public event dedicated to nurture the creativity, curiosity, and welfare of Bay Area youth and introduce them to the benefits of a post-secondary education. There will be free large scale egg hunts, performances, and 30+ interactive booths. Last year, we had over 1,000 participants and raised close to $10,000, with proceeds that went toward local nonprofit children's agencies. This event is free and handicap accessible, so bring the whole family for themed crafts, amazing performances, and fun egg hunts!

32nd Italian-themed event features a large bake sale, viewing and blessing of the traditional St. Joseph's Table, and a pasta dinner with prize drawings and live musical entertainment. Proceeds from the event benefit St. Paschal Baylon Church and other charitable organizations. St. Joseph's Day is a centuries-old Italian tradition honoring St. Joseph which began after rains ended a severe drought in Sicily. Each March, Italians worldwide celebrate this event with a procession, a beautifully decorated table or altar with flowers, fruit, candles, wine, fava beans and baked goods, and a large Italian dinner.

The largest battle reenactment on the West Coast now in its 17th year, features hundreds of re-enactors from all over the country come to Moorpark each year to participate. Activities include four battle reenactments with cannon and musket fire, Abraham Lincoln delivering the Gettysburg Address, solider and civilian encampments, Confederate army surrendering to the Union army and period dancing and music. The featured battle this year is the Battle of Gettysburg. Presented by the Rotary Club of Moorpark, the event is designed to educate the public about the historical significance of the Civil War and its effect on the United States including the abolishment of slavery.
