Parade at 10 a.m.
Billed as the "Mile Long Party," there are 26 blocks of free
fun, over 500 vendors, food booths and entertainers. Pancake
breakfast, Parade and the Stroll.
The Annual Solano Avenue Stroll in Albany and Berkeley
attracts over 250,000 people to a street fair, parade, and
exceptional day of entertainment always held the second Sunday
in September. 26 blocks of free fun are offered as visitors from
around California and the Bay Area converge in Berkeley and
neighboring Albany where the commercial district which boasts
the largest concentration of independently-owned businesses, the
"last stand" for mom and pop.
The merchants, restaurateurs and professionals of Solano
Avenue and the cities of Berkeley and Albany have hosted the
Solano Stroll since 1974. International food, clothing, jewelry,
toys, gift items and over 500 vendors set up for the day-long
event which includes food stands featuring ethnic cuisine from
Armenia, China, Italy to Vietnam, Mexican, Mediterranean,
Mongolian, French, Indian, BBQ and vegan.
75 entertainment acts are featured during the day and also in
the Solano Stroll parade, which begins at 10 a.m. Kids
entertainment includes giant slides, carnival games, clowns,
jugglers, stilt walkers, face painters, magicians, and other
excitement, though children can also learn about being "green"
at the Green Zone. Crafts and handmade gifts are displayed and
sold from over 120 vendors.
