A California State resolution proclaimed March 7-14 as California Arbor Week to coincide with the birthday of horticulturalist Luther Burbank (March 7, 1849-April 11, 1926).
California is home to many superlatives when it comes to trees. The state has the tallest trees in the world, the biggest trees in the world (per circumference and weight), and the oldest in the world. Trees are important to the state. There are more than 160 Tree City USA members in California comprised of municipalities and towns.
Arbor Day occurs on different dates according to their best tree-planting times nationally. In California, we celebrate Arbor Day with events throughout March and April. Here are some events:

The City of Encinitas, a Tree City USA, gives residents the opportunity to make a sustainable impact and contribution to Encinitas growing urban forestry.
Residents are invited to join the City in planting dozens of trees, enjoy family-friendly activities, and engage with educational booths. Tree planting volunteers help plant native species
to increase biodiversity, increase shade, and benefits to future generations visiting Hawk View Park.
