California is one of the top tourist destinations in the U.S. but it is also home to close to 40 million residents who are travelers. Incredible changes in the way travelers plan their trips has affected the travel show business. Once sponsored by newspapers and even produced by them, there has been much consolidation but thankfully, California continues to host several travel shows annually.

L.A.'s Favorite Travel Show is Now the Nation's Largest!
The Annual Los Angeles Travel & Adventure Show is where travel lovers come for travel inspiration, expert information and fun, cultural interaction. It's where you'll discover thousands of authentic travel experiences and speak directly to the travel experts who can get you there, give you the inside scoop, and save you money on exclusive travel deals. Over 35,000 people flocked to the 9th
Annual Los Angeles Travel & Adventure Show at
the Long Beach Convention Center. They heard
great music and saw sensational dancers from
Indonesia, Turkey, China, the Middle East and
Pacific Islands. They listened attentively as
Emmy Award-winning CBS News Travel Editor Peter
Greenberg, Best-selling Author Patricia Schultz,
Nationally-Syndicated Radio Talk Show Host
Pauline Frommer and Travel Channel Guru Don
Wildman wowed them with their insights and
experiences.
They took notes as famous chefs Fabio Viviani
and others featured recipes from around the
globe. And they especially enjoyed talking at
booths with more than 400 exhibitors from
Belize, Taiwan, Indonesia, Turkey, Thailand,
Malaysia, Japan, Reno/Tahoe, Carson City, Ely,
NV, Ridgecrest, Louisiana, Oxnard, Pismo Beach,
Tahiti, Mexico, Big Bear, Plumas County and the
California Gold Country. They saw the beauty of
The Forks Resort on Bass Lake, learned about the
150th Anniversary of California State Parks and
Yosemite National Park and the latest news on
AMTRAK, Celebrity Cruises and "Europe through
the Back Door" with Rick Steves.
There literally was something for everyone, no
matter what your particular interest was.
Beautiful travel magazines from Sunset, El
Dorado County, Ventura, Elko, NV, Catalina
Island, Alaska, Hawaii, many foreign
destinations (and more) were free for the
taking. Jelly Belly (Gourmet Jelly Beans), apple
sauce oatmeal cookies, chocolates, Legos, lens
cleaners, nail files, destination stickers and a
variety of maps were joyfully given away. There
were door prizes and show specials that
attracted a lot of attention. Attendees signed
up for a chance to win free air flights, hotel
stays, a fleece sweater and Indian paintings,
baseball caps, zip-line tickets, and cruises. At
booths, visitors were able to find out about
some fabulous "show only" travel deals just for
attendees only.
Some of the most valuable information was about
upcoming events in cities, states and countries.
No matter where you want to travel, you can get
valuable information at this annual event,
produced by Unicomm, Events for New Business.
CEO John Golicz said he's thrilled with how the
show has grown in both exhibitors and audience. He told the crowd that there
will be some longer aisles and more exhibits next year. John congratulated the
guests for taking the time to come to the largest travel show in the United
States. "Thanks for taking your time to come here and see the world!"
