Celebrate the sizzling sounds of a
fabulous band, taste authentic tamales
with recipes passed lovingly from one
generation to the next, and watch young
dancers swirl in their brightly colored
skirts as they step in rhythm to
folklorico dances at the 2nd Annual
Calistoga Tamale Festival.
The public is invited to a free
cultural festival that celebrates Cinco
de Mayo and the 125 year anniversary of
Calistoga with traditional Mexican
cuisine, folklorico dancing by the
children of La Casa de la Cultura and
even tamale making classes. Calistoga's
streets come to life with festive music,
food, and games in a one day annual
event sponsored by Calistoga Family
Center, a non-profit organization
strengthening the local community by
providing individuals and families the
tools needed to prosper and succeed.
Whether you live in the area or are
visiting, the cultural festival
showcases the best of the region through
its organizations, products and people
in a family friendly atmosphere that
includes breaking the piƱata, live
music, vendors booths with all sorts of
foods & beverages, and contests such as
the professional and amateur chef "Best
Tamales" contest. There will also
be raffles for prizes, and an exciting
day of fun for all ages.
Other exciting annual events in Calistoga include the
Community Christmas Bazaar at the Napa County Fairgrounds, an
annual
Summer Concert series and
Lighted Tractor Parade each Christmas holiday season.
