Costa Mesa, CA -- A Rockabilly Festival annual event launches the free summer concert series at Orange County Swap Meet (Market Place) at the OC Fairgrounds.

Three rockabilly bands vying for cash awards and the top spot in an annual competition

American Roots are celebrated through music and hair during Rockabilly Weekend at the Orange County Market Place Beard, Mustache and Rockabeauty Hair Style Contests are Saturday.

Saturday rockabilly bands

Kim Lenz and the Jaguars at 2:30 p.m. Los Angeles-based Lenz, the 2015 Ameripolitan Music Awards Rockabilly Female of the Year, has been on the rockabilly scene since 1998, releasing three albums, and playing hundreds of dates around the world. Lenz has an upcoming album Follow Me scheduled for release on August 20 via Riley Records.

Viva Las Vegas regulars, Lil Mo and the Dynaflos at 1 p.m., which blends 50's, 60's, Doo Wop and Rhythm and Blues into their rockabilly sound

Buddy Lee and the Dungaree Dogs are an Orange County based band performing at noon with a traditional 1950's rockabilly style.

Sunday rockabilly bands

James Intveld headlines at 2:30 p.m. James Intveld lives in Nashville, TN, and is on an international tour with Grammy winners, The Mavericks, an eclectic American rockabilly band. Intveld has performed with other music greats including Dwight Yoakum, John Fogerty, and the Blasters to name a few along with his own solo shows.

Crown City Bombers, a Hollywood based band, performs at 1 p.m. on Sunday. Together for ten years, they play classic Rockabilly, early rhythm and blues, 50's and 60's rock and roll and vintage originals. They are regulars on the Southern California roots scene, car shows and Viva Las Vegas.

Seatbelt, a trio from the South Bay, opens the Sunday concerts at noon. Seatbelt plays a rockabilly-hillbilly, roots and rock Americana sound.

Three Rockabeauty Hair Contests on Saturday are presented by Suavecito and Suavecita Pomade, hairstyles, mustaches and beards will be judged in a series of contests on Saturday.

Women's Rockabeauty Hair Contest seeking the Best Rockabilly Style and the Most Creative Hair Style (Anything Goes!)

Men's Mustache Contest will follow at 12:30 p.m. with divisions for the Best Mustache with the use of any style products and the Best Natural Mustache without use of style products.

Men's Beard Contest for the Best Beard with the use of any style products and Best Natural Beard without use of style products.

All contestants will receive a commemorative ribbon. There is no pre-registration for the contests, rather interested participants should report to the Main Stage no later than ten minutes prior to the scheduled contest.

On Saturday attendees can mingle with the Gentlemen's Beard and Mustache Coalition, the official Orange County chapter of Beard Team USA comprised of a group of facial hair enthusiasts who get together every month to socialize and show off their whiskers.

Free haircuts in the Suavecito Hair Stream Barber Shop on Saturday and Sunday, free mustache kits from Traveler Beer, rockabilly related vendors, gourmet food trucks and an instant photo booth along with the regular swap meet activity.

The Traveler Beer Company, which has a mustache design on its packaging, is introducing three new products at the event: The Curious Traveler-Lemon Shandy, The Illusive Traveler-Grapefruit Ale and the Forbidden Traveler Apple Ale.

All concerts including swap meet admission are free with a canned food donation to benefit the Second Harvest Food Bank of Orange County.
