Fort Bragg in Mendocino County features
an annual whale festival that each year
combines the whale migrations of spring
with local activities reflecting the
community's strengths. Enjoy a wine
passport wine sampling, whale
watching tours and even a lighthouse
tour!

Fort Bragg Rotary Club sponsors the brew
tasting, and regional chefs will cook
chowders. Chowder Tasting at Town Hall,
Saturday beginning at 11 a.m. till
2 p.m. when
the chowder runs out costs $10.
Corner of Main (Hwy 1) & Laurel St. in
Fort Bragg. Microbrew Beer Tasting
and Barbecue is hosted at Eagles
Hall, Saturday from 12 Noon to 5 p.m.
A marine mammal art exhibit and crafts
fair are also part of the two-day
festival. Marine Art Exhibit at the
Mendocino Art Center, located on Little
Lake St., Mendocino
An estimated 20,000 gray whales migrate
from birthing grounds in Mexico to their
winter home in Alaska. Optimum whale
watching takes place at Pomo Bluffs Park
in Fort Bragg, or you can visit the
beaches in MacKerricher State Park just
north of the city.
Other activities and events inlcude:
Whale Cruises from Noyo Harbor and
Whale Watching by Horseback. (These
activities may be available during other
weekends and times.)
