January Art Festivals

LA QUINTA: Art on Main Street January 5 & 19, 2019, 10 a.m.-4 p.m.  Art on Main Street features over 100 artists each season showing and selling their paintings, jewelry, mixed media, photography, ceramics.

INDIO: Southwest Arts Festival Jan. 24-27, 2019 at Empire Polo Club, 81-800 Avenue 51. $15 - 4 day pass,

PALM SPRINGS: Desert Art Festival January 12-13, 2019, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Frances Stevens Park 538 N. Palm Canyon Drive, Palm Springs   Admission and parking are free. The event is handicap accessible.

PALO ALTO: The Sheltering Sky, Palo Alto Art Center exhibition, includes artworks that provoke discussions of time, weather, the stars, climate change, the horizon line, and notions of heaven. The free exhibition runs from January 19- April 7, 2019.  The exhibition features three site-specific installations from artists Sukey Bryan, Val Britton and Demetrius Oliver. They use familiar objects like tea kettles, light bulbs, and umbrellas to investigate the cosmos from the  gallery vantage point. Other artists participating in the exhibition include: Matthew Baum, Val Britton, Adrian Landon Brooks, Eiko Borcherding, Sukey Bryan, Linda Connor, Sarah and Joseph Belknap, Ala Ebtekar, Jenifer Kent, Chris McCaw, Vanessa Marsh, Anna Von Mertens, Pieter Laurens Mol, Demetrius Oliver, Katie Paterson, Dario Robleto, Camille Seaman, and Hiroshi Sugimoto. The Sheltering Sky, the Art Center FREE opening celebration on January 25, 2019, 7-10 p.m. features artmaking activities, specialty cocktails, a guided planetarium experience, and more!  Location: Palo Alto Art Center 1313 Newell Road Palo Alto, CA 94303.
