When the Merced County Sheriff's Huey Helicopter lands, it's the kick-off to Knights of Columbus 6th Annual Kite Festival and Community Health Fair, which features hundreds of colorful kites. The festival features professional and leisure kite fliers, giant show kites—planes, birds, dogs, pirate ships and even octopuses—plus Kite Flying Demonstrations, Kite Building workshops, Kite Building Contests, and the famous Jim Strealy Memorial Sugar-Free Candy Drop.
