Mariposa Butterfly Festival
Time: 9:00 am - 10:00 pm

Always held the first weekend in May, this community event is anticipated
annually and is a great introduction for
visitors seeking to connect with small
town Americana. The gateway to Yosemite
National Park is Mariposa, a city with
much to explore. A California State Gem
& Mineral Museum, a History Museum, and
historic buildings provide lessons in
California's rapid growth from humble
beginnings.
The Butterfly Festival
includes an Art Show, Parade, Contests
and lots of kids wearing butterfly
wing-costumes. There's a butterfly
releases, but it can only take place if
it is not raining and only when
temperature is 60° or above.
It is really great fun. Go if you can.
