How well do you know your birds? Test your knowledge at the Morro Bay Winter Bird Festival. Recently spotted were a bald eagle at heron rookery, pectoral sandpipers and a black skimmer. Also spotted: Brant geese, sanderlings, common goldeneye, marbled godwits, lesser yellowlegs, pelagic and double crested cormorants, northern pintails, long billed curlews, willets, surf scoters, buffleheads, pied billed, eared, horned and western grebes, Forster's and caspian terns, brown and white pelicans, common and pacific loons, Canada goose, belted kingfisher, spotted and western sandpipers, ruddy ducks, great blue herons, white and snowy egrets, turkey vultures and black bellied plover. Harbor seals and sea otters are abundant along the shore in this region, which you'll see at the festival, no doubt!
