Get ready to loosen your Lederhosen as you order a stein of beer and  fill up on the Über Plate with four types of sausages, potato salad, braised red cabbage, and sauerkraut, and desserts by Frank Vilt’s Cakes. Competitions during the two-day festival range from beer stein holding to yodeling and costume contests for dogs and their owners.  Gruber Family Band accompanied by dancers from Lake Tahoe Shining Stars provide live Bavarian music and entertainment.  Camp Richardson’s lakeside restaurant The Grove  also serves an Oktoberfest special menu with live music from 5 to 7 p.m.

Games & Contests

• Stein Race: 1 p.m.  Teams of two compete in a speed walk through an Oktoberfest obstacle course.
• Brat Toss: 2:30 p.m. Toss a bratwurst onto a keg, with each round adding difficulty. The last person standing wins.
• Stein Holding Competition 4 p.m.  Competitors hold a full 1-liter stein in one hand at shoulder height. The last competitor holding a full stein wins.

Sample Beers, Spirits, Kombucha, and Sodas from all over the area. The Fall Ale Fest will be an intimate sampling within the Heavenly Village with live music and  Village Chicken Wing Cook-Off. Live Music from Steel Breeze kicks off at 1 p.m.

Last year, Gun Barrel Tavern, Fire and Ice, Kalanis, The Loft, California Burger, competed for who has the best wings. Douglas County Sheriff's Office and Eldorado County Sheriffs Offices compete to see who has the best law enforcement wing as well. Sample wing plates are available 3 bones for just $6.
