Each year hopes are high that the desert comes alive with wildflowers in bloom. The annual transformation of the Coachella Valley into a colorful canvas happens in years in which there is rain. The best place to celebrate is at the Coachella Valley Wildflower Festival at the Santa Rosa & San Jacinto Mountains National Monument Visitor Center in Palm Desert. In addition to wildflower viewing and art, the festival offers the sand sculpting element, a Kids' Zone, a 5k trail run, mountain biking, and interpretive hikes. There are raffles, vendors, exhibitors, and live music provided by The Arrangements in the beer and wine garden. Food and beverages are available for purchase.

Coachella Valley Wildflower Festival offers a slate of activities. Past events have included:

Interpretive hikes, continuing every 15 minutes
Trail runners' 5K run
Beer and Wine Garden
Concerts
book signing
Kids Zone
