The History of Anne & Mark's Art Party: Anne and Mark's Art Party was first hosted in 2007 as a private event, showcasing the artistic work of friends, family and local performers. It was held in Anne Sconberg and Mark Henderson's downtown San Jose home, which they converted to a 5,000 square foot gallery for one evening with 20 artists and 250 guests. Over the years, it grew from one house to two, then to a warehouse, and in 2014 it opened to the public for the first time and became a week-long event at the Santa Clara County Fairgrounds. Art Party is an artist-driven, volunteer-led event with over 300 artists and performers contributing their time and talents. Over 3,000 guests were in attendance during the first open-to-the-public event in 2014 and over 5,000 are expected to attend this September. Art Party gives artists at all career levels an opportunity to show and sell their art, to network, and to interact with other artists, critics and buyers from the Bay Area and beyond. It encourages guests to become participants, fosters conversation, connection and creation that can transform attendees and artists alike, highlighting existing artistic vibrancy, and strengthening pride of place.06
