Solvang Danish Days is an annual celebration that pays homage to the Central Coast city's roots. Solvang Annual Danish Days is a three-day event honoring the establishment of Solvang by Danish-Americans in 1911. See solvangusa.com A hometown parade, costumed Danes, Aebleskiver eating contest and free concerts are included in this all free event (food sold for a fee.)

All events are from previous season and may not be available this year.

Friday

  • Free Concert in Solvang Park 4 p.m.  Solvang Park Gazebo, Mission Drive and First Street.
  • Chainsaw Carver, George Kenny 4 p.m.
  • Viking Beer & Wine Garden 5-10 p.m.
  • Torchlight Parade 7:30 p.m. Be a part of the Torchlight Parade, all welcome, candles provided. Route: Alisal Road and Laurel Avenue; strolling south down Alisal and ending at the Midgaard Pavilion Stage.
  • Opening Ceremonies introducing 2017 Danish Maid, Gabrielle Heron 8 p.m.
     

 Saturday, September 16, 2017

  • 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. ∆bleskiver Breakfast Aebleskiver Breakfast on Copenhagen Drive & First Street for $7-8
  • Artisan's Fair and Merchants Open 9 a.m.
  • Kids Korner featuring LEGOS and the Play & Rest Center in Solvang Park. 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.
  • Viking Encampment & Living History Festival
  • Elverhoj Museum Open 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. for demonstrations and interactive activities for all ages. Free. 1624 Elverhoy Way,  elverhoj.org
  • Aebleskiver Eating Contest 11:30 a.m. Corner of Copenhagen Drive & First Street. All ages welcome to attempt to eat the most in 5 minutes!
  • Organ Concert 1 p.m.
  • Danish Days Parade 2:30 p.m. includes the Solvang Village Band atop the Carlsberg Beer Wagon, floats, equestrians, Village Dancers & more. Parade begins by turning east on Copenhagen Drive, then north on Alisal Road, west on Mission Drive, south on Fourth Place, east on Copenhagen; south on Second Street, finishes at corner of Oak Street  near Solvang City Hall.
  • Concerts 5-10 p.m.

Sunday, September 17, 2017

Schedule is similar to Saturday with shopping, Aebleskiver breakfast, and eating contest

  • Old World Artisan Market 9 a.m.
  • Children's Parade starting at Atterdag Square, down Copenhagen to Solvang Park.  All children and families are welcome to join this free event  at 2 p.m.
  • Danish Days Closing Ceremonies in Solvang Park 2:30 p.m.
