Apples sold by Lions Club and Rotary Members. A portion of the proceeds will also go to benefit several local charities including the Tehachapi Lions & Rotary Club of Tehachapi, Warrior Football Boosters, Tehachapi Wrestling Club, THS Cheerleaders, Ladies Aux of American Legion, Salvation Army Youth Group, Tehachapi Cancer Foundation, Honor Flight, United Pegasus Foundation and others.

Tehachapi at an elevation of 3,970 feet is located in the Tehachapi Mountains 35 miles southeast of Bakersfield in Kern County. When autumn comes to the region, it's a wonderful time to visit and taste local apples. Daytime temps average 65-70 degrees with less than half an inch of rain expected for the entire month.  While you can visit Tehachapi and pick apples at farms & orchards such as Knaus Apple Ranch (knausappleranch.wordpress.com), the apple fest puts the celebrating in one place for all to enjoy for two day only.

APPLES

  • Tehachapi Apple Festival features Apple Pie Eating Contest on Saturday and Apple Pie Baking Contest on Sunday.
  • Local apple farmers sell apples and apple pie, apple turnovers, apple nachos, and many other apple treats.
  • Apples sold by Lions and Rotary Members.
  • Hand crafted local artisan gifts and apple related items.

As for us, we're going for the apples - apple pie, apple drinks and apples sold everywhere. There's likely even vendors selling apple scented candles and oils among the many arts, crafts and gift merchants.

Have you ever noticed it's a favorite trick of Realtors holding open house to heat some apple cider in the kitchen, providing a wonderful  aroma to attract potential buyers?
