Huntington Beach in Orange County, California was founded in 1909 as a charter city government body.  City Council Meetings are open to the public and are held on specific Mondays--see the city website for dates.

The official car of Huntington Beach is the woody! Huntington Beach is a Tree Friendly City Huntington Beach has a significant wetlands area for bird migrations. Huntington Beach features the largest beach resort conference facilities in Orange County. Tourism attracts an estimated 11 to 15 million visitors annually. According to Google Maps, Huntington Beach and Sunset Beach (annexed community) contain 9.3 miles of beach frontage.

 Huntington Beach has a seven-member elected City Council. City Council Members are limited to two consecutive terms. The City Manager works with the City Council, though the manager position is not an elected position.

There are three elected department heads, the City Attorney, City Clerk and City Treasurer. The position of Mayor is filled on a rotating basis annually.
