Hemet Parks System was named a Tree City USA by the National Arbor Day Foundation to honor its commitment to its community forest. It is the 20th year that Hemet has received this national recognition. 25 or more people wanting to use one of the parks for an event should fill out a form and turn it into the City of Hemet offices at 445 East Florida Ave., Hemet, CA. The parks in Hemet provide the community great recreational opportunities and are use for many special and annual events such as the Hemet Easter Egg Hunt. All developed parks are open daily between the hours of 6 a.m. and 10 p.m. Simpson Park is open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. in the Summer and 7:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. in Winter.

Organized recreational activities such as softball, tennis tournaments etc., are provided to the community by the Valley-Wide Recreation and Park District which is a separate entity from the City.
