Karen Briggs, Violinist, Lady in Red
It's been more than 22 years since Yanni with his long, flowing hair performed "Live at the Acropolis" in Athens, Greece. A PBS special taping of that concert not only raised $13 million for public broadcasting, but it also created a buzz when "The Lady in Red" with the lightning-fast violin performed. What ever happened to her? Karen Briggs played an instrumental part in the success of the show and continued to work and tour with Yanni for 13 years more.
At the Carson Jazz Festival performing with the likes of saxophonist Eric Marienthal, a Grammy winning compose and musician, his final set featured a "Lady in Pink" with a mean violin accompanied him. Her talent was beyond compare! After doing some research I learned that she was Karen Briggs, part of an all female band, Jazz in Pink.
