Melody Yoko Reilly, often referred to as Melody Yoko, looks very much the healthy, tanned California Beach girl. Her glowing appearance comes naturally to the beautiful lady with long legs, dark flowing hair, and an award-winning smile. Perhaps that is why Melody's mom entered her in a modeling competition during her teen years.

The girl who grew up at Southern California's popular Redondo Beach where she was born, raised, and graduated from high school, visited her relatives in Japan during her youth and felt comfortable enough to move there when she won the contest and began getting modeling offers and jobs with the Japanese modeling agency. She spent the summer in Japan working as a model and liked it so much that she decided to stay and keep working at what she loved.

In addition to appearing in magazines and high fashion ads in a variety of media outlets Melody was selected to be one of three co-hosts on NHK Japan Broadcasting Company's show, Kawaii International. The program which appears on the last Saturday of each month may be seen on many PBS (and other) stations in the U.S. and streamed live on the Internet during the broadcast.

In her on-camera role Melody, along with Mari Sekine and Misha Janette visits trendy boutiques and shops throughout Japan (and occasionally other countries) in search of the cultural phenomenon known as kawaii. Translated as cute, adorable, or loveable with undertones of a certain innocence, kawaii fashion is considered alternative cool, creative and crazy. The outfits often cross over from street fashion into the world of cosplay and anime. The three ladies explore different types of kawaii such as Twins Look, Lolita, Boys Lolita, Boys Look, Denim, Mature, Character, School Uniform, Outdoor, Fes (festival), Japanese Traditional... and whatever can be imagined.

For Melody Yoko Reilly the gig gives her a chance to show her stuff ('rocking what my momma gave me') and possibilities of an acting career. Next Asian action star perhaps?
