For a little off-beat, on-the-water entertainment this 4th of July, here’s 3 to see in California!
1. Three Island Fiasco Sailboat Race June 28, 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. Konocti Bay Sailing Club racers go around 3 islands or buoys set off the shore of an island (Anderson, Rattlesnake and Dollar Islands) in any order and any direction which is where the “fiasco” comes into the race. 2. Lakeport Cardboard & Duct Tape Regatta July 4, 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. This annual event takes place in Library Park on the Fourth of July. cityoflakeport.com
3. Old Glory Boat Parade with over 100 red, white & blue bedecked boats in Newport Beach. Sponsored by the American Legion Yacht Club, the parade leaves from Collins at approx. 12:30 p.m. on July 4. See: americanlegionyachtclub.com
